Dhaka, July 1 (UNB) – United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres and World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim on Sunday visited Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in the capital’s Dhanmondi area.

They placed floral wreaths on the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and paid tributes to him. They also signed visitors’ book there.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam accompanied them and explained them various things taking a tour with them in different sections of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum.

UN Resident Coordinator in Dhaka Mia Seppo, among others, was present.

Earlier, the UN and WB chiefs met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and discussed various issues with special focus on Rohingya issue.

They attended an event on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) hosted by the Prime Minister’s Office.

“Excellent questions from #Bangladesh civil society,” Mia Seppo twitted.

Danish Ambassador in Dhaka Mikael H Winther twitted, “Big questions on SDG challenges addressed by World Bank President including on inequality, youth unemployment and education at conference today (Sunday).”
