Inauguration Of “Diplomacy In Changing Public Discourses” Course
A new Refreshers’ Course for mid-level officers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Bangladesh Missions abroad was inaugurated by Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs H.E. Mr. Md. Shahriar Alam, MP on 19 July 2020. Foreign Secretary Ambassador Masud Bin Momen was also present on this occasion. The course will be conducted online in Zoom platform till 29 July 2020. The theme of the course is “Diplomacy in Changing Public Discourses”. Hon’ble State Minister while inaugurating the course, stressed on the importance of knowledge and skills in managing ‘new media’ which is digital and so general public has easy access to. He also advised officials to equip themselves in order to take advantage of the opportunity that the digital world offers. Foreign Secretary in his remarks, mentioned about the significance of public diplomacy and media in modern days. He said that digital platforms help us reach people not only in the home country, but also across the globe. He, however, reminded the officers of the Ministry of the challenges that the digital platforms bring about in the way of our practices of diplomacy and management of foreign relations. Rector of the Academy and the high officials of the Ministry and the trainees were present digitally at the inauguration function.
